Supplementary Refinery

Supplementary refinery project

Due to the severe water shortage crisis in Iran, especially in the Isfahan region, the use of effluent from urban wastewater refineries has been considered by various industries. Meanwhile, in cities, due to the high volume of urban green space, there is an urgent need for water for irrigation. Therefore, the approach of municipalities is to use effluent to irrigate green space. However, according to environmental and health standards in irrigating the green space of public parks and alamedas, especially in Iranian culture, where people are in direct contact with the green space, supplementary treatment and especially disinfection of the effluent of urban wastewater refineries is very important and It is a mandatory requirement. It is worth mentioning that due to the costs of wastewater treatment, especially improving the quality of wastewater to the above standards, the effluent of urban wastewater refineries generally lack the required quality. Isfahan Municipality has purchased 100 liters per second of Shahinshahr wastewater refinery effluent and during an investment project by Behinab Zenderood Company, has carried out additional wastewater treatment in order to be used in green space irrigation. Complementary treatment actually means improving the quality of the effluent of the wastewater refinery to the required level and reaching the standard quality for the specified purpose. In this project, considering that the final consumption of effluent is irrigation of urban green space, the necessary environmental standard has been announced by Isfahan Municipality. The complementary treatment process required in this project is effluent filtration by stiff sand filters to remove suspended solids and disinfection by multi-oxidant disinfection solution to remove microbial contamination. This project has been one of the most successful projects in the field of urban environment, as evidenced by the executive operations and documents of the Vice President of Science. Also, this project is a unique environmental project in the country in terms of the type of contract, technologies used and high capacity.
